She is also well versed in customer analytics, customer retention and loyalty, and the importance of delivering a positive and comprehensive customer experience.

Tim Oakhill

Worldwide Marketing Strategist and Subject Matter Expert, IBM Commerce

Tim Oakhill is a 30-year marketing veteran with global marketing expertise that spans multiple product segments on some of the world’s largest brands. He currently serves as the Worldwide Marketing Strategist and SME for IBM Commerce. Tim is guiding the development of marketing management platforms for multiple Fortune 500 companies and is a trusted advisor to many CEO’s/CMO’s.  He is active with private equity providing material guidance to their portfolio companies to evolve their marketing platforms.   

Most recently Tim was the the EVP of Brand Management at Mattress Firm, the world’s largest mattress retailer with $3 billion in sales and 3000 retail locations. Tim launched their newest retail brand MattressPro and designed and launched the company’s private label brand strategy. Prior to joining Mattress Firm, Tim served as the CMO/ EVP Marketing at Simmons Bedding Company from 2005-2011 where he was responsible for global marketing, product, communications and selling strategy of the $1.2 billion

company. During his tenure, Simmons set a share gain record that ran for 13 consecutive quarters for a total of 18 of 22 quarters.

With over 30 years of marketing experience, Tim has also served as Marketing Manager for Eastman-Kodak Company and Account Supervisor for Bates Worldwide Advertising, a global advertising and promotions firm managing LaBatt’s Beer, Rolling Rock, Texaco, Havoline, Wendy’s, US Olympic Committee, NFL, MLB and NASCAR. Tim has several patents and patents pending, ranging from product design, point of sale, internet marketing and search engine techniques. He holds a BS in Marketing and a BA in Advertising from the University of South Carolina, and an MBA from the University of Virginia. Tim and his wife (Jill) live in Atlanta with their two children.

In his free time, Tim enjoys the outdoors and is an accomplished mountain climber having summited four of the seven summits.

Peter Sorckoff

SVP Marketing, Atlanta Hawks and Philips Arena

Peter Sorckoff is the Chief Creative Officer and Senior Vice President of Marketing for the Atlanta Hawks and Philips Arena. Peter oversees brand management, advertising, promotions, the fan experience/game presentation, digital and social channels, direct/e-mail marketing and team retail operations. He is also responsible for leading all creative teams in the origination and development of new and unique content in-arena, on television and in the digital environment.

In addition to his work with the Atlanta Hawks and Philips Arena, Peter has been an exemplary member of the

Calgary Flames and the Atlanta Thrashers organizations. He was also a Venue Producer for the Salt Lake Olympic Committee during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.

Peter sits on the board of the St. Jude’s Recover Center, as well as the Community Advisory board for CBS 46. He is a Team Advisory Council Member for InStadium – Live Sports Video Network. His accomplishments have earned him several honors, including nine ADDY’s and five IDEA awards. Peter is originally from Calgary, Alberta and lives in Roswell with his wife and three daughters.

Vivek Swaminathan

Senior Director, CEB

Vivek is a Senior Director at CEB, managing the research and advisory services specifically for CIOs at midsized organizations. His previous experience at Oracle as a technology consultant contributes to Vivek’s overall subject-matter expertise in IT.

Since joining CEB in 2006, Vivek has held many different roles in CEB’s IT Practice. He started at CEB as a Consultant, where he developed research and services around PMO and project management-specific issues. In 2009, Vivek transitioned to help lead CEB IT Leadership Council for Midsized Companies, taking over full management of the membership in 2013.

Over this time at CEB, Vivek has led countless advisory conversations, tailored workshops, and leadership briefings for CIOs, PMO leaders, Application executives, and other senior IT executives.

Vivek holds a Masters in Economics and Politics from The London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor’s in Management Information Systems from The University of Texas at Austin.


Shelley West

Senior Executive Advisor, CEB

Shelley West is a Senior Executive Advisor with CEB’s Marketing Leadership Council. In this role she helps heads of Marketing and their teams work through their most pressing challenges and apply CEB’s research, frameworks, and best practices. In addition to working directly with hundreds of senior leaders, Shelley delivers marketing-focused presentations and workshops for groups ranging in size from 10 to 200.

Prior to joining the Executive Advisory team, Shelley spent 3 years as a strategic research consultant for the Marketing Leadership Council. As part of this role, Shelley led both quantitative and qualitative studies and conducted original best practice research.

Among other projects, Shelley led the 2012 B2B research on influencing customers across the purchase funnel,

“Getting Paid for Content Marketing,” and the 2013 B2C research on the consumer and technology changes are disrupting marketing, “Pre-Empting the Looming Irrelevance of Big Brands.”

Before joining CEB in 2010, Shelley spent several years conducting research for a wide variety of corporate, non-profit, media and political clients. She most recently worked as a Research Manager in the new product development/innovation department at media company Gannett and as a Project Director at a boutique market research firm in Washington, DC.

Shelley holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Psychology from Amherst College.
